PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

Gracious God, who created us in God’s own image,
we are grateful for all that you have done for us,
for all that you are doing in us,
and for all that you will do through us.
Open our eyes to see your presence among us,
moving in powerful ways at all times
and in all places.
Open our ears to hear familiar words in new ways—
ways that will change us and challenge us
to become the people you created us to be.
Grant us the power and the courage
to come out of the darkness
and into the light of Jesus Christ,
that we may serve you by serving others. Amen.

Psalm 130

130:1 Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD.
130:2 Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications!
130:3 If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand?
130:4 But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered.
130:5 I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;
130:6 my soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning.
130:7 O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love, and with him is great power to redeem.
130:8 It is he who will redeem Israel from all its iniquities.

ABUNDANT HEALTH

The Start of Change

I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13 (NIV)

Resolutions and rules aren’t enough to change the human heart. Heart transformation requires the love of God inside you. The beginning of healthy change starts inside you. When you invite Jesus to be the Savior and Lord (manager) of your life, your past is forgiven, you get a new purpose for living, you get a home in heaven, and you plug into God’s power to change your life.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

God of light and love and peace,
we praise your name for leading us in paths of righteousness,
that we may come into your presence, forgiven and free.
We give you thanks for guiding us to this place:
where we may rest beside the still waters of your grace,
where we are filled with the good gifts
of your goodness and mercy.
We offer you these gifts,
that you might bless them and send them out into the valley
of the shadow of death,
and everywhere in need of your light. Amen.
