Online Ministry 01/20 - 01/26/2020

God of light and love, Open our eyes to the light of your dawn, that our souls may be flooded with love and mercy and joy. Amen.

Psalm 27:1, 4-9

27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
27:4 One thing I asked of the Lord, that I will seek after: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.
27:5 For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent: he will set me high on a rock.
27:6 Now my head is lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord.
27:7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud, be gracious to me and answer me!
27:8 "Come," my heart says, "seek his face!" Your face, Lord, do I seek.
27:9 Do not hide your face from me. Do not turn your servant away in anger, you who have been my help. Do not cast me off, do not forsake me, O God of my salvation!

Food Is Medicine
Dear friends, let's make a clean break with everything that defiles or distracts us, both within and without. Let's make our entire lives fit and holy temples for the worship of God. 2 Corinthians 7:1 (The Message)
Food has the power to heal us. It is the most potent tool we have to help prevent and treat many of our chronic diseases. All calories are not created equally. There are healing calories and disease-causing calories. Which ones are you feeding your body?
—Dr. Mark Hyman

God of light and love, we have in recent weeks sung our songs announcing the birth of our Savior. We remember Christ’s baptism and our own. We acknowledge the light that came into the world through Christ, and now it is time to hear Jesus’ call to follow. He calls us to follow not just when it fits our schedule, not just when it doesn’t mean giving up something else, and not just when it is safe. Help us to be faithful in following. Amen. (Matthew 4:12-23)
