PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

God of our salvation, you see your world laid waste
with false worship, injustice, and indifference.
Only in your tears, born out of vast love,
do we find hope. Open to us the way of your tears—
the way that leads us back to your love.
Teach us to serve you through service with others,
that you may deliver, forgive, and renew our world at last. Amen.

Psalm 113

113:1 Praise the LORD! Praise, O servants of the LORD; praise the name of the LORD.
113:2 Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time on and forevermore.
113:3 From the rising of the sun to its setting the name of the LORD is to be praised.
113:4 The LORD is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.
113:5 Who is like the LORD our God, who is seated on high,
113:6 who looks far down on the heavens and the earth?
113:7 He raises the poor from the dust, and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
113:8 to make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people.
113:9 He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the LORD!

ABUNDANT HEALTH

Time to Play
The Lord is my strength and my shield …. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. Psalm 28:7 (NIV)

When we were kids, we called it play, and we loved every minute of it. Today, for many, we call it exercise and count every minute of it, longing for it to be over. Why not integrate motion with devotion and bring back the fun and joy to your fitness and life?
Here’s a good place to start: Move toward joy. If you think of exercise as drudgery, as an ought to in your life, your motivation will disappear. If you direct your energies wisely and do something you enjoy, something you get to do, you’ll find that motivation comes naturally.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Mighty Creator, you are the architect of the cosmos and of the tiniest flower. All of creation is a tapestry proclaiming your love and mercy. We bring gifts to you, not as restitution for past mercies or prepayment for future favor, but as a celebration of your love and care for us and all creation. Help us more resemble the people you desire us to be. In Christ, we pray. Amen. (Jeremiah 8:18-9:1)
