Online Ministry for the Week 11/07 - 11/13 2016

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

Almighty God, in you are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Open our eyes that we may see the wonders of your Word; and give us grace that we may clearly understand and freely choose the way of your wisdom; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

ABUNDANT HEALTH

Gratitude for Your Health

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)

Practicing gratitude literally helps you have a brain to be grateful for. The act of writing down your grateful thoughts helps to bring your attention to them to enhance your brain. When you express gratitude on a regular basis, you will be healthier, more optimistic, make more progress toward your goals, have a greater sense of well-being, and be more helpful to others.

The Man Who Did Not Die (Genesis 5:24)

All but one of the brief biographies in chapter 5 end with the words “and then he died.” We know very little about the exception, Enoch, except that he walked with God. Enoch did not die; he “was no more, because God took him away.” Based on this evidence, Hebrews 11:5–6 commends Enoch as a man of faith, since “without faith it is impossible to please God.”

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, we exalt you! You graciously answer the cry of all who seek you. We pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world who are persecuted for their faith. Sustain and encourage them by your Holy Spirit. Make each church a haven of physical and spiritual salvation. Use our tithes and offerings to safeguard the weak and vulnerable through the ministries of this congregation. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen. (Isaiah 12:1-6)
