PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

We pray this day that we may come to a clearer understanding that you have more interest in our character than in our comfort. Where we have need of correction, speak plainly to us and grant us the courage to make the changes you would bring in our lives. Strengthen our community, we pray, in order that we may become more effective in our ministry, in our service, and in our witness with all our neighbors In the name of the risen Christ, Amen.

Psalm 31:1-5, 15-16

31:1 In you, O LORD, I seek refuge; do not let me ever be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me.
31:2 Incline your ear to me; rescue me speedily. Be a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me.
31:3 You are indeed my rock and my fortress; for your name's sake lead me and guide me,
31:4 take me out of the net that is hidden for me, for you are my refuge.
31:5 Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, O LORD, faithful God.
31:15 My times are in your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and persecutors.
31:16 Let your face shine upon your servant; save me in your steadfast love.

ABUNDANT HEALTH

Get Together
Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of a friend springs from their heartfelt advice. Proverbs 27:9 (NIV)

Did you know that when individuals exercise together they release more “happy hormones” (endorphins) than when they work out alone? Working out with a friend can actually make exercise more effective and less difficult. Plus, friends can take your mind off feelings of pain or discomfort and help the time fly by.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Loving God, as we offer our gifts to you, we know you see us more clearly than the world sees us, or even than we see ourselves. We have made foolish choices, valued things that were not worthy, and yet you have claimed us, deemed us precious, counted us worth saving by the death and Resurrection of your Son. No gift that we can offer can come close to balancing out your relentless love, but we give them with a heart of gratitude. We give ourselves, in the name of the one you gave for us. In Christ, we pray. Amen. (I Peter 2:2-10)
