PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

God of grace and glory, you call us to be your people, faithful and courageous.
As we hear how Jesus embraced his mission in the waters of baptism,
inspire us with your Spirit to join in his transforming work. AMEN.

Psalm 29

29:1 Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
29:2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory of his name; worship the LORD in holy splendor.
29:3 The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, over mighty waters.
29:4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
29:5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
29:6 He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox.
29:7 The voice of the LORD flashes forth flames of fire.
29:8 The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
29:9 The voice of the LORD causes the oaks to whirl, and strips the forest bare; and in his temple all say, "Glory!"
29:10 The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as king forever.
29:11 May the LORD give strength to his people! May the LORD bless his people with peace!

ABUNDANT HEALTH

Faith-Based Health
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Romans 12:1 (The Message)

To reach optimum health, you must pay attention to the spiritual dimensions of your life. You have a body, but you are far more than just a body. Every area of your life affects every other area. For instance, it’s hard to be spiritually strong and mentally alert when you are emotionally stressed or physically fatigued. If you are spiritually and emotionally weak or ill, your body cannot perform at its peak. So your health starts with your relationship to God—the Creator who designed you, knows best how your body was made to operate, and has the power to help you make the changes that you want to see.
—Pastor Rick Warren

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Holy God of redemption and transformation, this morning we remember the baptism of Jesus, as well as our own. As we accept and acknowledge your gifts of grace through Christ, we may be made clean, healthy, and whole. We pray that our gifts will help others know the cleansing power of grace. In the name of Christ who died for us, we pray. Amen.
