PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

Lord of light and life, we come to you this day in celebration of the witness of your Son Jesus Christ. Open our hearts, our spirits, and our lives to listen to his words for us. Help us to be faithful disciples for you; for we ask this in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.
  

Psalm 46

46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
46:2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
46:3 though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult. Selah
46:4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.
46:5 God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved; God will help it when the morning dawns.
46:6 The nations are in an uproar, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts.
46:7 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah
46:8 Come, behold the works of the LORD; see what desolations he has brought on the earth.

You should know that your body is a temple for the Holy Spirit who is in you. You have received the Holy Spirit from God. So you do not belong to yourselves. 1 Corinthians 6:19 (NCV)

Most Americans spend more time watching cooking on television than actually cooking. We think that it is difficult and time consuming, but that’s a myth. Cooking simple, healthy meals is easy to learn and will transform your health. In fact, health starts in the kitchen. What’s in yours?

It is time to take an honest look behind the cupboard doors. Dump the processed foods, white menaces (white flour and sugar), and anything with unhealthy additives. Then add all the good stuff: healthy fats, nuts, veggies, fruits, whole grains, beans, peas, seeds, spices, herbs, etc. When you stock what’s good for you, you set yourself up for healthy eating and cooking habits.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

God of Creation, we bring our humble gifts, celebrating the reign of Christ, our King – not just in the kingdom that is to come, but in his reign in our hearts. Help us to give our whole selves in actions of service with others for Christ’s ongoing work of compassion and healing. Amen. (Colossians 1:11-20)
