PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

Enable us, O God, through the gift of your steadfast love, to remember who we are and to hear your call. Open our minds to hear your message and promise. In your love, may we be true and faithful disciples of your Son, Jesus Christ. AMEN

 

Psalm 36:5-10

36:5 Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.

36:6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your judgments are like the great deep; you save humans and animals alike, O LORD.

36:7 How precious is your steadfast love, O God! All people may take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

36:8 They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights.

36:9 For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.

36:10 O continue your steadfast love to those who know you, and your salvation to the upright of heart!

Food has the power to heal us. It is the most potent tool we have to help prevent and treat many of our chronic diseases. All calories are not created equally. There are healing calories and disease-causing calories. Which ones are you feeding your body?

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Holy God who gives and then gives more: As we pass the plate and gifts of money to sustain the mission of your church, we are reminded that we have other gifts as well. You have given each of us spiritual gifts to make the world richer, more compassionate and more just. Open our eyes to those gifts and when you would have us use them. Amen.
