PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

Risen Savior, whatever our infirmity, our health and our strength are in you. Open our minds and our hearts to the witness of your people to your healing love, and to offer or receive it with compassion as you lead. Amen.

Psalm 4

4:1 Answer me when I call, O God of my right! You gave me room when I was in distress. Be gracious to me, and hear my prayer.
4:2 How long, you people, shall my honor suffer shame? How long will you love vain words, and seek after lies? Selah
4:3 But know that the LORD has set apart the faithful for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him.
4:4 When you are disturbed, do not sin; ponder it on your beds, and be silent. Selah
4:5 Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD.
4:6 There are many who say, "O that we might see some good! Let the light of your face shine on us, O LORD!"
4:7 You have put gladness in my heart more than when their grain and wine abound.
4:8 I will both lie down and sleep in peace; for you alone, O LORD, make me lie down in safety.

ABUNDANT HEALTH

Healthy Brain = Healthy Body
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV)

If your brain is healthy, it helps your body health, and vice versa. Healthy brain habits include moderate physical exercise, new learning, a Daniel Plan−friendly eating plan, and simple supplements such as a multiple vitamin/mineral complex and omega 3 fatty acids. Also, being at a healthy weight, being physically healthy, and getting adequate sleep enhance brain function, as do having regular prayer and stress management practices.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

Holy God, thank you for making Jesus the Author of life, whom you raised from the dead. You still do marvelous miracles of forgiveness, bringing healing and new life in our midst. We know that these gifts don’t come from our power or piety but by your goodness. As we reach out to people in our community, may they draw closer to you. Let our offerings contribute to the ongoing work of your servant Jesus, here and now. Amen.
