Online Ministry for the Week 02/06 - 02/12 2017

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

We would see Jesus on the mountain teaching, with his disciples listening, gathered round, while birds and flowers and sky above are preaching the blessedness which simple trust has found.
So open our eyes and our ears and all our senses, and shine in our hearts that we may know your Word and your righteousness and follow where you lead. Amen.

DAILY READING

The Power of Real Food

“Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see." So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days. At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. Daniel 1:12−15 (NIV)

Real food heals. Real food nourishes. The good news is that the list of real food is short, easy to understand, and easy to identify. The beauty of adding food that heals, nourishes, and satisfies you deeply is that it will almost effortlessly shift your body and mind into a state where you naturally crave what makes you thrive and feel good. As you start to eat real food, your cravings and sugar addiction will be replaced by deep pleasure and satisfaction for naturally sweet things.

Incomprehensible Love (Ephesians 3:17–18)

  • What are some things that you know about but don’t really understand?
  • How much does Jesus love you?
A child asked Jesus how much he loved her. He answered, “This much,” and then he stretched out his arms and died on the cross.

You may have heard this before. It’s a good way to think about how much Jesus loves you. He loves you so much that he left heaven and came to earth for you. He loves you so much that he suffered and died for you. And the Bible says that nothing you can do will separate you from the love of Jesus.

In these verses from Ephesians, Paul describes Jesus’ love as being “wide and long and high and deep.” The idea is that it is infinite—you will never come to the end of it. God loved you before he created you. He loves you right this minute. And he will love you for eternity.

We cannot possibly understand how much Jesus loves us. We don’t have to. All we have to do is accept it.

Prayer

Dear God, thank you for your love. Please help us to accept it. Amen.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

God, our teacher, you graciously provide direction to guide us through Scripture. Thank you for the joy we feel when we do what is right and live according to your ways. By your Spirit, nurture our growth as individuals and as a congregation. Let our community of faith readily share with our neighbors the love of your Son, our Savior. Accept our offerings in his name. Amen. (Psalm 119:1-8)
